Researchers at The University of Texas at Austin are conducting the PERPP study to understand how psychotherapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) changes brain function and impacts the ability to experience positive emotions. This research utilizes neuroimaging and evidence-based therapy to study the effects of trauma-focused treatment on reward circuitry.
Conducted at the Health Discovery Building in Austin, TX.
Includes 12 sessions of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
Study involves fMRI and EEG brain imaging sessions.
Seeking adults within this age range living with PTSD.

The study aims to learn how evidence-based therapy changes brain function related to reward and positive emotions in those with PTSD.
All in-person visits and therapy sessions are held at the Health Discovery Building (HDB) in Austin, Texas.
CPT is a specific type of evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help people recover from PTSD by modifying unhelpful beliefs related to their trauma.
To participate in the research, you will need to pay for any costs associated with transportation to and from study visits, but parking will be reimbursed.
