The Re-EMBARC study (Establishing Multimodal Brain Biomarkers Using Data-driven Analytics for Treatment Selection in Depression) is a research initiative at the University of Texas at Austin. Researchers are working to identify brain patterns that can predict how individuals with Major Depressive Disorder respond to the antidepressant sertraline (Zoloft).
Located at the Health Discovery Building (Dell Med)
Includes treatment with sertraline (Zoloft)
Involves fMRI and EEG scans to measure brain function
Includes weekly or bi-weekly clinical assessments

The study uses sertraline (brand name Zoloft), a common SSRI antidepressant approved for treating depression.
The MRI scanner has specific space and weight limitations for safety and image quality. Participants must have a BMI under 34 to fit comfortably and safely.
While you must be an adult to participate, a key requirement is that your depression symptoms first started before age 30.
Visits are held at the Health Discovery Building (HDB) on the Dell Medical School campus in Austin, TX.
