Researchers at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center are conducting a research study to better understand how stored blood delivers oxygen to the body during transfusion. This study involves healthy adult volunteers who will donate their own blood and later return to receive either their own stored blood or a standard saline solution while an investigational drug is administered under medical supervision. The goal is to support future advances in transfusion medicine.
Most study visits take place at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
The study is enrolling generally healthy adults between 18 and 35 years of age.
Participation includes screening, blood donation, and an overnight hospital stay.
