About the Study

Researchers at The Ohio State University are conducting a study to better understand how different foods and electrical stimulation affect blood pressure in people with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI). The goal is to improve knowledge of cardiovascular responses in individuals living with SCI and explore new approaches to support health.

Who Can Participate?
  • Have a spinal cord injury (C4–T12) for more than 1 year
  • Are between 18 and 65 years old
  • Use a wheelchair
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Do not have diabetes
  • Have no neurological impairments other than SCI

What the Study Involves:

If you join, your participation will include a combination of clinic visits and at-home tasks.

9 days of at-home study activities
A test to calculate energy needs at rest
Blood tests, blood pressure monitoring, and an activity monitor

Compensation and Benefits:

Participants will receive payment for their time and effort. By joining, you will help researchers better understand the effects of diet and electrical stimulation on blood pressure in people with spinal cord injury.
