About the study

Researchers at the University of Oregon are looking for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) youth and caregivers to share their experiences with mental health care.

The goal of this research is to understand how clinicians can culturally adapt treatments to better serve NHPI youth by personalizing mental health treatments to their experiences and values.

What to Expect

What to expect

  • A brief 5-minute online background and demographic survey
  • Two 90-minute online focus group discussions
  • Sharing thoughts on how cultural values can be integrated into therapy
  • Rating the importance and feasibility of different therapy adaptations
Who Can Participate

Who can participate

Youth Participants

  • Identify as Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
  • Ages 12–15
  • Have received therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, conduct, or substance use

Caregiver Participants

  • Parent or caregiver of an NHPI child (ages 5–15)
  • Child has received mental health care

Benefits & compensation

There are no anticipated direct benefits to participating in the study. However, your participation may help improve mental health treatment for NHPI youth and families.

Youth
Up to $60 per session$120 total
Caregivers
Up to $120 per session$240 total
